Round 7, Pick 220: John Cominsky, DE, Charleston

Quite possibly one of the biggest winners of the combine was division two product John Cominsky of Charleston (WV). The small school product was relatively unheard of up until about a month ago. He received an invitation to the Senior Bowl, where he put his talent on display for general managers and scouts, and parlayed that performance into an invitation to the combine.

Cominsky did not let the opportunity to test against the big school prospects go to waste. Measuring in at over 605 and 286 pounds, he has the size to play at the next level, and with a 40 time of 4.69 seconds, he could make an excellent edge rusher or three-tech for one lucky team willing to take a chance on him. To think this young man was recruited as a quarterback out of high school.

His production with this athleticism against Division II prospects is a bit suspect, however. With the right coaching and molding, Cominsky could be the steal of the draft and the most under-the-radar prospect in the entire class. In the seventh round, if Cominsky lasts that long, the Raiders should absolutely take a flier on the small school prospect with a large frame; with the 220nd overall pick in the draft, Oakland takes a chance Cominsky and hope for a large payoff.
