Houston Texans: 3 Bargains to target in 2019 NFL free agency
1. WR Terrance Williams (Dallas Cowboys)
When it comes to the Houston Texans’ passing attack in recent seasons, it’s basically wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and everyone else. The 27th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft has missed one game in six seasons and been in the starting lineup for 95 contests. The former University of Clemson standout has totaled 528 catches for 7,437 yards and 47 scores.
Hopkins has totaled 100 or more catches twice in the past four seasons and scored 11 or more touchdowns three times since 2015. He’s been named to three of the past four Pro Bowls, earned All-Pro honors each of the past two years
There’s also no denying that speedster Will Fuller can light up an opposing secondary when available. But health has been a major issue for the three-year pro, who has already missed 17 regular-season games during his brief career. Meanwhile, 2018 fourth-round pick Keke Coutee was limited to only six games during his rookie campaign. But he caught 11 passes for 110 yards and scored the team’s only touchdown in the playoff loss to the Colts.
The Dallas Cowboys opted not to pick up the option on six-year pro Terrance Williams. He comes off a forgettable year in which he was limited to only three games due to injury and suspension. But that doesn’t mean that the 2013 third-round draft choice can’t provide the Houston offense with some help. In his first five seasons, he hauled in a solid 230 passes for 3,359 yards and 20 scores. And Williams could likely be had for a very reasonable price.
