2019 NFL Mock Draft: Post-free agency first wave three-round projection
By Randy Gurzi
9. Buffalo Bills: Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida
Josh Allen nearly got himself a new target in Antonio Brown. Unfortunately for him and the Buffalo Bills, the deal with the Steelers for the high-profile receiver fell apart not long after it was reported. With that falling through, the Bills could be looking at a wideout with the No. 9 spot in the draft. Or they could look to add some protection up front for Allen.
In this mock, their choice is to go with the offensive lineman as they grab Jawaan Taylor out of Florida. His selection here may seem a little high, but that’s only because he plays right tackle. The same feeling was rampant in 2018 when Mike McGlinchey entered the draft but looked as though he could only play on the right side. Despite that, he went No. 9 to the San Francisco 49ers and was a great fit for them.
Taylor should be even better as he was even more dominant than McGlinchey. He’s also quite possibly the best offensive lineman overall in this class, but falls behind Jonah Williams simply due to his position. The Bills won’t have to worry about this position for at least the next decade as Taylor is about as sure of a prospect as this class offers.
