2019 NFL Mock Draft: Post-free agency first wave three-round projection

2. San Francisco 49ers: Nick Bosa, EDGE, Ohio State
With Kyler Murray gone after the first pick, the San Francisco 49ers can now select the player that will change their franchise for the better. Nick Bosa was a dominant edge rusher at Ohio State and has NFL bloodlines. His older brother, Joey Bosa, was drafted third overall by the Chargers in 2016 and has done rather well for himself since being selected.
The younger Bosa hopes to have a similar impact on a team that’s in desperate need of a pass rushing defensive end. The 49ers have spent a lot of draft stock on their front lines in recent seasons with players such as DeForest Buckner, Solomon Thomas, and Arik Armstead landing there with early picks. However, none has the speed and burst off the edge that Bosa does.
Of course, there could be some concern as he enters the draft. Bosa was hurt in 2018 and ended up calling it a career at Ohio State early. He likely could have returned to his collegiate team, but instead, Bosa decided to focus on preparing for the NFL Draft. That shouldn’t be enough to drop him, but some teams might question his dedication after such a decision. As for the Niners, they likely will agree with his decision and bring him in here.
