How Chicago Bears should proceed for rest of 2019 offseason
1. Get at least one more pass-catcher
The Bears added Cordarelle Patterson, formerly of the New England Patriots, and, while he is a versatile and talented player, they could use another pass-catching threat, either at the wide receiver spot or at tight end. Trubisky needs as many weapons as possible to help his development along.
They have a strong No. 1 receiver in Allen Robinson, and second-year pro Anthony Miller is a quality young player. They need to add another consistent threat to the bunch, though.
Trey Burton was added last year on a big free agent deal, but he never got his footing underneath him. They could look to add a tight end later in the draft because it is deep at that specific spot. This would give Trubisky multiple players to dump off to when he gets into trouble, and it also allows Nagy to get creative with his routes and play concepts with multiple tight ends.
The bottom line is that you can never have too many weapons on the offensive side of the ball. When you’re a defensive-minded team, you don’t need to be able to put up an extreme amount of points, contrary to teams like the Chiefs, but it can certainly help you’re cause when the defense isn’t playing at their best.
Give Trubisky another weapon to throw to and Nagy to scheme with, and the offensive ceiling will take another big step.
