Round 4, Pick 136 (Comp pick): Austin Bryant, DE, Clemson

Fourth-round comp picks are where teams find franchise quarterbacks. Or at least that’s where the Cowboys found theirs. At pick No. 135 back in 2016, the Boys took Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott and all he has done since then is go 32-16 as their starter while winning the NFC East twice.

While that result is amazing for such a pick, it really isn’t common. That doesn’t mean there isn’t talent that can be found with these selections — and with the No. 136 pick in this mock the Cowboys find a player who had a lot of production college but has questions about how he translates to the next level.

More from Dallas Cowboys

Austin Bryant has the size Dallas coaches love for their ends as he measured in at 6-foot-4 and 271-pounds. In addition to that, he had 95 tackles and 17 sacks over the past two seasons for Clemson. The problem is he didn’t play with the strength that his size suggests he should. He was also able to benefit from an incredibly stacked defensive front which meant he got a lot of numbers from opponents trying to avoid the studs lined up around him.

With Dallas, he would find plenty of opportunities to prove his doubters wrong. Suddenly there are a lot of snaps available at defensive end and Bryant has enough potential to give him a shot with their lone comp pick.
