Round 7, Pick: 241: Travis Fulgham, WR, Old Dominion

The Dallas Cowboys don’t have a sixth-round pick in this draft so they have to wait a while after selecting Jordan Scarlett with their fifth-rounder. Now back on the clock for the final time in the 2019 NFL Draft, they pick up wide receiver Travis Fulgham from Old Dominion.

Listed at 6-2 and 215 pounds, Fulgham isn’t the normal type of player targeted by Will McClay and Stephen Jones. In recent seasons, they’ve been adamant about drafting players who played at big schools, which Old Dominion is not. They make an exception here since it’s a late pick — and also because Fulgham has the skills to be a contributor at the NFL level.

He more plays downfield than his 4.58 time in the 40-yard dash suggests, which was evidenced by his 17.2 yards per reception during his senior season. This had more to do with his ability to win contested passes which he did in an incredibly aggressive fashion.

Fulgham won’t be a burner, and it also won’t be easy for him to make the roster. Still, Dallas needs to add depth to their receiving corps and there needs to be a lot more competition.
