The Washington Redskins have digressed the past three seasons after winning the NFC East in 2015. What reasonable free-agent signings could help the team?

They were one of the bigger surprises the first half of 2018. Jay Gruden’s Washington Redskins won six of their first nine games and found themselves atop the division, ahead of the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles as well as the eventual NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys.

This was a club led by a pair of veterans in the backfield in quarterback Alex Smith and rejuvenated running back Adrian Peterson. The team’s defense had showed some marked improvement as well.

But Washington’s signal-caller would go down with a broken leg and would be lost for the remainder of the season in a Week 11 home loss to the Houston Texans. Colt McCoy would take over for a spell and suffer a similar injury fate a few weeks later.

All told, Gruden would wind up employing both Mark Sanchez and Josh Johnson. The end result would be six losses in the club’s final seven games. And for the second consecutive season, the ‘Skins finished with a 7-9 record and in third place in their division.

Since winning the NFC East in 2015, it’s been three consecutive years of disappointment for this club. The Redskins own a combined 22-25-1 mark since that 9-7 finish four years ago. The team traded for quarterback Case Keenum and it will be an interesting few weeks in training camp.

Meanwhile, could the Redskins take a look at these three players to boost their roster?
