Round 7, Pick 217: Michael Dogbe, DL, Temple

The Temple product did not get an invitation to the combine, to the dismay of many lovers of the season. However, he did just have his pro day on Monday, and displayed the athleticism that has many NFL scouts curious as to what he could become at the next level.

Dogbe measured in at 6-3 and 284 pounds, and in a league where everyone is looking to find the next Aaron Donald, the Temple Owl fits the bill with his stature. The big boy went on to run a 5.06-second 40-yard dash, hand timed, meaning it could have been even quicker than that; he added to his agility by pressing a massive 34 reps on the bench press.

There is a reason that Dogbe did not get an invite to the combine and a reason that he falls to the seventh round here as he is an extremely raw prospect. However, Dogbe has a ton of upside, and if he hangs around by the time the Jets make their selection, they should add him to a defensive line rotation already consisting of Leonard Williams, Henry Anderson, and Stevie McClendon. With Williams on the last year of his rookie deal, it would also be wise for New York to begin to groom his replacement just in case.
