Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace took a beating as the losses piled up. His plan, however, is coming around and now he’s proving his doubters wrong.

My, how the times have changed. After accumulating a record of 14-34 from 2015-17, the Chicago Bears found themselves without a head coach and a horrible offense. They lost relevance in the NFL.

While this was going on, many people called for the general manager, Ryan Pace, to be fired as well. They thought he was too young and in over his head. To their credit, however, the Bears stayed with Pace, even giving him an extension. That caused a stir considering the poor play.

Bears fans weren’t the only ones questioning Pace. Media around the league had harsh criticism for his moves as well. They wondered aloud how former Bears head coach John Fox could win with the roster Pace gave him.

The chance the Bears took on Pace started to pay off. He had a tremendous offseason overhauling the offense and the results were wonderful. The Bears finished with a 12-4 record and won the NFC North after four straight last-place finishes (three of them under Pace). They were a Cody Parkey missed field goal from advancing to the second round of the playoffs.

This offseason, things are a little different. The Chicago Bears are again relevant. Players are choosing to go to Chicago expecting to win a Super Bowl. The fans are happy and now expect winning seasons and a long playoff run.

After taking much criticism, Pace’s moves now prove the doubters wrong. When he took over the Bears, the team had one of the worst offenses in football and one of the worst defenses in football. Now the Bears have one of the most dominant defenses and the offense ranked ninth in points scored. A Bears offense that put up a lot of points? That was something unheard of when talking about the Chicago Bears offense.

Let’s take a look at how Pace turned things around and proved his doubters wrong.
