Round 1, Pick 30: Devin Bush Jr., LB, Michigan

With the 30th overall selection the Packers take Michigan’s Devin Bush Jr. in this scenario, who’s an undersized but extremely athletic linebacker. Like the selection of Ed Oliver, this may seem like a luxury pick, but the Packers need to start planning for the future. Similarly to Mike Daniels, Green Bay’s current starter at inside linebacker, Blake Martinez, has an expiring contract next offseason.

There’s a lot to like about Bush as a prospect. His 40-yard dash time of 4.43 seconds was tied for third at his position at the NFL Combine. It’s easy to see this type of speed on tape, as Bush looks like he’s being shot out of a cannon. He has true sideline-to-sideline range and speed.

"“Undersized three-down linebacker with the speed and cover talent to make an easy transition to WILL (weak-side) linebacker as a pro. There will be NFL defenses who pass on Bush due to his lack of size, but his ability to play fast and free as an outside linebacker should supersede those concerns.” – NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein"

For what Bush lacks in size he makes makes up for in athleticism. At just 5-11 and 234 pounds, Bush manged to jump 40.5 inches in the vertical leap at the NFL Combine, good for first at his position. Quarterbacks should be warned before throwing over the middle when he’s on the field.
