Round 4, Pick 114: Stanley Morgan Jr., WR, Nebraska

The Packers lost Randall Cobb in free agency to the Dallas Cowboys, opening up a spot on the depth chart at receiver. While Green Bay did bring back Geronimo Allison, there’s no reason to think they wouldn’t take a shot on a mid-round rookie in this year’s draft. Therefore, with the 114th pick, Green Bay takes Nebraska’s Stanley Morgan Jr.

Morgan is considered by some to be the best route runner in the 2019 receiver class. He showed everything he needed to at the Combine by posting a 4.53-second 40-yard dash, 6.78-second 3-Cone drill, and a 38.5-inch vertical leap at 6-0 and 202 pounds. He figures to fill in nicely in a slot role.

"“Stanley Morgan Jr.’s route running makes him a high-floor prospect. … He projects as a Z-receiver with slot potential, as his frame, shiftiness and knowledge of route running gives him proper versatility. Morgan is a well-rounded prospect with no true weaknesses, but his hands and strength could improve for the next level.” – The Draft Network’s Brad Kelly"

The Packers have three young receivers in Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Equanimeous St. Brown and J’Mon Moore. The addition of Morgan would add healthy competition to the receiver room, especially since Valdes-Scantling was the only rookie to stand out last season.
