Round 5: Bryce Love, RB, Stanford

The Cardinals add another weapon to their offensive arsenal. Bryce Love is the fifth round selection. He might become a multiple position player. At Stanford, Love played running back. He rushed for 3,865 yards on 569 carries with 30 touchdowns. He also caught 49 passes for 465 yards and two touchdowns.

His size makes him a great candidate to play multiple positions. At 5-9, 200 pounds, Love may be the ideal slot receiver in Kingsbury high octane offense. Physically, he is very similar to Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola. Edelman moves the chains for New England. Love could be that guy in Arizona.

Kingsbury could move Love around to create mismatches on underneath routes. Although he carried the ball at Stanford, it’s unclear how he could take the physical hits as a running back. He could be the second back to catch swing passes on third-and-short.

Zierlein of NFL.com gives an overview of Love’s potential:

"… Love lacks the desired size of a volume runner, but his sudden burst and top-end speed offer home-run potential that is unlikely to be ignored by teams looking to add a big-play option into their offense…"

Love comes off the board ahead of the Cards’ pair of sixth-round picks.
