Kyler Murray

Take just a few seconds and imagine how unbelievably fun watching a Kyler Murray-Phillip Lindsay backfield would be…okay, times up. Seems exhilarating, right? Of course, there is also next to no chance this actually happens.

Quick hits:

  • Height and build aside, Murray is a heck of a quarterback, sporting very good accuracy and touch, obvious athleticism and better-than-you’d-think arm strength.
  • Does not throw with anticipation very much (product of scheme?)
  • Good under pressure and does not get rattled easily in the pocket
  • Often overcomes deficiencies in mechanics with his other athletic traits

Why he fits:

He’s a playmaker. Other than that, you tell me. The Broncos would have to overhaul their offensive identity to fully embrace Murray’s talents, shifting from an under center focus to a near-exclusive shotgun approach. However, Murray brings all the talent in the world to the field, just in a tiny package. Whoever drafts him and and embraces those talents could be rewarded nicely for it.

Scouting report from The Draft Network:

"Right now Murray is a raw talent with elite athleticism and a nice arm, but playing quarterback takes a lot more than that. His burst and movement skills are jaw-dropping and will save him for awhile, but eventually he will need to develop the nuances of his game and perfect his mechanics, which will require a quarterback that is truly bought in to his growth and developmental as a football player."

Whether Murray makes it to Denver at No. 10 remains to be seen.
