Round 5, Pick 159: Germaine Pratt, LB, North Carolina State

With their last selection of the 2019 NFL Draft coming in the fifth round, the Seahawks add linebacker Germaine Pratt from North Carolina State to their roster. With elite middle linebacker on their roster in Bobby Wagner and re-signing on a two-year deal, the Seahawks are fairly set at the second level of their defense.

However on their weakside, the Seahawks have a hole that is temporarily being filled by Barkevious Mingo and Shaquem Griffim, who both excel at rushing the passer more than playing the run or dropping into coverage. If the Seahawks are looking for a third backer to play in their traditional 4-3 defense, Pratt could be their guy.

Running a blazing 40-yard dash at the combine at 4.57 seconds, Pratt proved to be as fast as he looks on film. He also tested in the top 67 percent in the bench press as well, showing that he has adequate strength to go along with his speed as well.

In a linebacker class that is proving to be deeper than originally thought, the Seahawks still find talent and great value at the position in the fifth round in Pratt. Giving them the flexibility to groom, Pratt could become their next late round backer to form into an Pro Bowler just as Wagner and Wright have become.
