The Dallas Cowboys may not have a first round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, but targeting these prospects could still land them valuable pieces to the puzzle.

Owning the NFC East and defeating the Seahawks in the first round of the playoffs was enough to keep Jason Garrett employed as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. But his seat is sitting on thin ice. Especially since he’s taking over as offensive coordinator. On the other hand, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott earned himself a payday.  For better or worse, he solidified himself as the franchise quarterback. After all, the Cowboys won the NFC East two out of his first three seasons.

Last season, Prescott got a much-needed upgrade at wide receiver. Jerry and Stephen Jones pulled off a mega deal, bringing in Amari Cooper in exchange for a first-round pick ahead of the trade deadline. Still, even with Cooper’s high production, the offense didn’t click consistently as a whole.

In 2018, the Cowboys offense ranked 22nd in the league, despite having one of the best offensive lines in football. They also happen to have arguably the best running backs in the NFL, Ezekiel Elliott. Perhaps the lackluster performance from the tight end spot contributed to the below average performance. To address that, the Cowboys pulled Jason Witten from the booth back onto the field.

However, he wasn’t the only major offensive addition. They also added Randall Cobb to replace Cole Beasley, who left for colder pastures (Bills). With these key additions on offense, perhaps things could take a turn for the better.

On the other side of the ball, they invested a number of draft picks into the secondary over the last few offseasons. It paid off to some degree with Byron Jones showing he’s a solid No. 1 corner. As a unit, the cornerbacks played well. However, it still feels like 2019 is a prove-it year for Jourdan Lewis and Chidobe Awuzie, At safety, Xavier Woods played well, but they can use an upgrade alongside him. Earl Thomas opted for the Baltimore Ravens in free agency, despite his campaign to be a Cowboy.

Up front, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence proved worthy of a huge payday. Unfortunately, the team hasn’t worked out a long-term deal just yet as he’s under the franchise tag. The trade for Robert Quinn locks down the other defensive end spot and gives the Cowboys some depth. The weak link is the defensive tackle spot.

With the holes on the Cowboys, there are a few great prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft that can help. If Garrett wants to secure his spot as head coach, the Joneses will have to rely on the draft’s depth. In honor of the Cowboys having six picks in the 2019 draft, here are six prospects ideally suited for the Cowboys.
