5. Erik McCoy, IOL, Texas A&M

Moving from one Aggie to another, it’s no secret that the Cowboys offense runs through Ezekiel Elliott. In order to keep Elliott healthy and effective, paying extra attention to the offensive line is a necessity. The Cowboys aren’t exactly thirsting for offensive line help. They have one of the best units in the league. From left to right, they have good-to-great talent. But the offensive line can use some depth.

Erik McCoy is the type of player that brings value and depth the Cowboys. He can come in and play center or guard if necessary. When the Cowboys lost Travis Fredrick last season, it showed.

During the 2017 season, McCoy displayed his versatility by lining up at center and guard. The 6-3 310-pound lineman played in the Cowboys backyard, so they got to see it on full display. Against the run he shows good power, enough to ward off nose tackles. His agility favors him as a guard. But the Cowboys are set with Connor Williams and All-Pro Zack Martin.

On the second and third day of the draft, the Cowboys have a great history. Travis Fredrick is readying for a comeback if he can get his health issues behind him. Adding a combo player like McCoy will only add to their great track record, though, and solidify the depth on the interior.
