2. Hakeem Butler, WR, Iowa State

If the Dallas Cowboys want Dak Prescott to succeed, surrounding him with playmakers is a necessity. Amari Cooper and Prescott are a match made in heaven. Michael Gallup is a versatile and movable piece at the position. They brought in Randall Cobb to likely replace Cole Beasley in the slot. Meanwhile, Allen Hurns was a disappointment and Noah Brown is a project.

They need a receiver with the ability to make plays in the red zone, a player who can work the middle of the field and fights for yardage after the catch. Iowa State wide receiver Hakeem Butler can do all of those things.

For starters, he’s 6-5 and nearly 230 pounds with 4.48 speed. He has long arms, creating a large catch radius. His length minimizes Prescott’s need to throw the perfect ball and it also aids in his ability to run block.

On 50/50 balls he’ll be victorious because he’s a box-out type of guy. In the red zone, he’s an absolute terror with his ability to execute the back shoulder catch. Although he’s not the quickest, he can work the middle of the field. He has the potential to dominate against the jam. As a deep threat, he has good buildup speed and excellent ball skills.

Butler has the power and mentality to run through defenders after the catch. The Cowboys will have to jump on Butler in the second round.
