3 Reasons Denver Broncos should select Drew Lock at No. 10 pick
By Dan Parzych
1. Broncos need a quarterback to compete in AFC West
From Patrick Mahomes winning MVP during his first full year as the starter to Philip Rivers finally helping the Los Angeles Chargers emerge as serious contenders in the conference, the AFC West had plenty to be proud of from the 2018 season.
Once again, both the Chiefs and Chargers should pick right up where they left off to be a top contender once again in 2019. And when looking at how great of a job the Oakland Raiders have done this offseason putting together a better team for Jon Gruden’s second season, Derek Carr could end up being in for a big year as well with the Raiders.
If this happens to be the case, the last thing the Broncos want to see happen is be the ones left behind in the dust while all of their rivals go on to compete for a spot in the AFC playoff picture.
A quarterback like Lock may not be able to make Denver a serious contender as a rookie since the team is expected to roll with Flacco for now, but this doesn’t mean it can’t happen at some point.
Sooner or later, the luck has to change for a team like the Broncos when it comes to the quarterback position, and Lock still has a long way to go since he isn’t even officially in the league yet, but Denver needs to start somewhere, right?
