13. Miami Dolphins: Drew Lock, QB, Missouri

With the Jacksonville Jaguars signing Nick Foles and the Denver Broncos landing Joe Flacco, there aren’t as many teams desperate for a starting quarterback in the top 10 this season as there usually is. That helps out the Miami Dolphins, even if it’s not ideal for Drew Lock as he slides to them in this mock.

Miami also made a move in the offseason to bring in a veteran but theirs wasn’t as high-profile as what Jacksonville or Denver did. After giving up on Ryan Tannehill, Miami went after Ryan Fitzpatrick — a journeyman gunslinger who can light up the scoreboard one week, and then throw four picks the next.

Last season was fun for Fitzpatrick as he was on fire to start the season and even took Jamies Winston’s job with the Bucs at one point. However, he ended up flaming out as the FitzMagic was lost. Should the Dolphins have to start him, they should be competitive, but the hope will be that Lock can go by Week 1.

Early on in the 2018 season, Lock seemed like the top pick at the position. He had a strong 2017 campaign for the Missouri Tigers but didn’t have the same success in 2018. Even with that being the case, Lock has a golden arm and is going to be a starter for a long time in the NFL.
