3. New York Jets: Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama

At one point, Quinnen Williams seemed destined to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, but he’s fallen some in recent weeks. That’s through no fault of his own, but instead, it’s due to the fact that Josh Allen has impressed so much in workouts — as well as the realization that Arizona may actually be serious about their interest in Kyler Murray.

For the New York Jets, who pick third in the draft, this ends up being a huge win as they land Quinnen Williams here. It also feels a little like déjà vu as they had similar luck in the 2018 NFL Draft. Last season, USC’s Sam Darnold was the player everyone expected to go No. 1 overall, but then the Cleveland Browns threw a wrench in that as they took Baker Mayfield in that spot.

With the Browns choosing the Oklahoma quarterback, they left Darnold on the board when the Jets were ready to pick and they happily gave the gunslinger a new home. They do the same here as they turn in their card for Quinnen Williams, the interior defensive lineman who proved to be nearly impossible to block while playing for the Crimson Tide.
