player. Scouting Report. S. Nasir Adderley. 28. Pick Analysis. Delaware. 35

Safety Nasir Adderley became a Silver and Black favorite during Senior Bowl week. He finished the game with three Raider decals on his helmet for his stellar showing that included a late-game interception.

Adderley would provide more versatility to the secondary. He’s lined up at cornerback and safety as a collegian, splitting his time evenly between the two positions, with solid yearly performances in both spots.

Over the last two years, Adderley spent time at safety. In 2018, he led Delaware in interceptions with four and displayed solid tackling technique with the ability to strip the ball.

Adderley possesses the coverage skills to play the centerfield position, which is sorely needed with Karl Joseph active closer to the line of scrimmage. Secondly, the initial call to use Joyner in the slot underscores the void. The Raiders signed safety Curtis Riley, but he’s on a one-year deal and missed 23 tackles, per Pro Football Focus (subscription required). The former New York Giant isn’t an every-down defender.

If the Raiders decide to experiment with Joyner at safety, the 5-11, 200-pound prospect has the skill set to move inside—mostly because of his tackling and agility.

Following this mock draft sequence with Baker at No. 27, it’s important to take a defender who can help out over the top if the Georgia product lines up against a wideout with top-notch foot speed. The duo could adequately bracket top-level pass-catchers.

As a back-end eraser, Adderley can clean up blown coverage or limit speedy receivers who earn their money on go routes and chunk plays. The Delaware product would complete a revamped secondary that features a mix of athleticism and physicality.
