Kansas City Chiefs: 7-Round 2019 NFL mock draft after free agency
If the season started today, the Kansas City Chiefs could probably survive at the linebacker position. Between Anthony Hitchens, Reggie Ragland, Damien Wilson and Dorian O’Daniel, they could put a serviceable unit on the field. That being said, it would be a limited group of linebackers that leaves plenty to be desired.
Hitchens and Ragland are the two most established linebackers on the roster, and both are probably best suited for a 3-4 defense. Simply put, the Chiefs would be wise to add to their stock of linebackers in the 2019 NFL Draft, and they find an opportunity to do so in the third round of this mock.
Vosean Joseph is a relatively inconsistent player who disappears at times on tape. His raw instincts and ability to process on the field are lacking, but there are times when he shines and looks like a legitimate first-round prospect.
Blessed with impressive speed and athleticism, Joseph can range from sideline to sideline and make plays. He is also an aggressive defender who is not afraid to play get downhill and make plays against the run in the middle.
He is a strong run defender who can knife through the offensive line and make plays in the backfield and also shed blocks and defend the run in a physical nature. Joseph also shows some promise as a pass rusher in the blitz game and has the functional athleticism to be strong in coverage at the next level.
Joseph does not have any consistent flaws in his game, he simply needs to become a more refined and consistent player in order to have success at the next level. With proper coaching, this guy has a chance to be a massive steal in the middle rounds and a strong fit at a position of need for Kansas City.
