A.J. Brown

There is a chance that Brown isn’t even available at No. 21, but wide receivers tend to fall in the draft, especially since there have been so many early busts lately. While Seattle has been tied to Campbell already, Brown was the better college player and is the better prospect. If the team is sold on picking a wide receiver and Brown is available when their pick comes, it would be a mistake to pass him up and hope to land a receiver in the third round.

Last season at Ole Miss, Brown recorded 85 receptions, 1,320 receiving yards and six touchdowns. While he only has the one year of tape and there had to be some concern as to whether he’ll be able to replicate his 2018 success, he did have the seventh most receiving yards in the country.

On paper, the Seahawks should have a good one-two punch at receiver with Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett, but there are reasons to be concerned about the receiving corps. To begin with, Baldwin dealt with injuries all last season that limited his ability to play.

At 30 years old, Baldwin could begin declining now, or he could rebound in 2019 and not decline until he’s 33. The issue is that Seattle doesn’t know what to expect moving forward. Lockett had a breakout season, but he’s limited in short-yardage situations.

There just felt like there was some factor missing in the Seahawks passing game last year. Brown would make Seattle’s receiving corps one of the deepest in the NFL and could provide Russell Wilson a weapon he’s been missing.
