The San Francisco 49ers took severe actions to improve their defense during free agency and hope to solidify their roster with the 2019 NFL Draft.

The 2019 NFL Draft is officially less than three weeks away and as free agency has come to a standstill, the San Francisco 49ers’ draft board is becoming solidified. While there is still potential that the Niners will trade out of the second overall pick, it seems like the rest of the NFL wants to see what the Arizona Cardinals do with the first pick before making a move.

The Niners have been locked into the prospect that they want with the second overall pick from day-one and it should be no surprise. However, with holes to fill in the second and third level, as well as seeking to replace Pierre Garcon should be a priority for San Francisco as well.

After signing free agents Kwon Alexander, Jason Verrett, as well as making a trade for Dee Ford, the Niners have added some much-needed talent to their defense. However it would be incorrect to assume that they are done on that side of the ball.

With Jimmy Garoppolo coming back in 2019 and a formidable defensive front, the Niners have the makings of a team ready to win games. With six picks in the upcoming draft in what should be a bounce back year for the Niners, general manager John Lynch must add a quality infusion of youth to a roster that could look to compete.
