The New York Giants go after their quarterback of the future and fill many other holes in this early April 2019 7-Round Mock Draft

It seems as though the New York Giants are making headlines this offseason for all the wrong reasons. Following a 3-13 campaign in 2017, they went out and landed general manager Dave Gettleman in an effort to give the team a new direction. Gettleman brought in Pat Shurmur as his head coach and there was some buzz that they could make some positive changes.

This wasn’t a crazy notion considering the G-Men won 11 games in 2016 and then had issues with the health of Odell Beckham, Jr. during the following three-win campaign. There was also a lot of drama around head coach Ben McAdoo, who was let go before the season ended.

On top of the new bosses in town and health of OBJ, New York selected running back Saquon Barkley at No. 2 overall. With him there to take pressure off Eli Manning and OBJ, there was plenty of reason for optimism. However, that quickly faded as the Giants struggled all season.

Now instead of improving, they seem to be making some highly questionable moves. One was the trading of Olivier Vernon and the aforementioned Odell Beckham, Jr. Both are in Cleveland now and while they did get some good return on investment, shipping off Beckham seems like a bad move — especially considering he was just given a new five-year, $95 million deal in 2018 and Gettleman famously said they didn’t sign him just to trade him.

Gettleman is also repeatedly saying the team is all-in on Eli Manning as their quarterback despite his struggles to get wins. That proclamation has also been met with skepticism.

Of course, a good draft could change perceptions. With that being said, here is an attempt to try and get the Giants season back on track with a full 7-round 2019 NFL Mock Draft.
