One player who has caught the attention of the Cowboys, among other teams as of late, is defensive tackle John Cominsky. He played at the University of Charleston in West Virginia, which hurts his draft stock some considering the level of talent he played against.

Still, he did all he could to make a name for himself at the small school and ended up being named the 2018 Mountain East Defensive Player of the Year after registering 73 tackles, 23 for a loss, and 6.5 sacks. He still has some doubters, which include Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, who thinks his NFL options are limited unless he can improve as a pass rusher.

"The one-time option quarterback should be able to impress with his athletic testing during postseason workouts, but he still needs to keep adding play strength to be ready to handle NFL offensive linemen. Cominsky is built like a 3-4 defensive end and flashes potential to handle those types of run duties down the road. However, without more threat as a pass rusher, his NFL potential could be limited."

Measuring in at 6-5 and 286 pounds, it’s not just a 3-4 defensive end position he’s built for, he could be the perfect fit as a 3-technique defensive tackle for the Cowboys. He has a great blend of speed and strength and could prove to be a problem for anyone trying to block him in the interior of the line.
