New England Patriots: 7-Round 2019 NFL mock draft in early April
Fresh off yet another Super Bowl victory and with Rob Gronkowski retiring, how can the New England Patriots improve in the 2019 NFL Draft?
Every year it seems like the end of the road for Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. However, last season they once again defied the odds and took home another Super Bowl championship. New England undoubtedly has warts on their roster, but as long as Brady and Belichick are around, they are legitimate threats to go all the way.
Even with their success, the Patriots are in an interesting and delicate situation going forward. Brady will be 42-years-old when the 2019 season begins. We would be foolish to count out Brady, but what he is doing at his advanced age is completely unprecedented. Make no mistake about it, this could all end at any time.
With this is mind, the Patriots are in a tricky position. They obviously need to fill their roster holes and build their current roster around Brady and company to put themselves in the best situation possible to succeed in 2019. That being said, they undoubtedly need to have their eye on the future as well.
When Brady and/or Belichick hang it up, most expect the Patriots to fold around them and struggle to get back on top. However, if they properly build for the future and find some key pieces at important positions, the New England Patriots could quickly find themselves set up well for life after this dynasty.
Simply put, if the Pats are going to be able to build for now and the future, they must add significant talent in the 2019 NFL Draft. In this complete seven-round mock draft, we see a path to both short and long-term success for the New England Patriots.
