Chicago Bears: 7-Round 2019 mock draft in early April
By Randy Gurzi
Round 7, Pick 222: Malik Reed, EDGE, Nevada
Khalil Mack cost the Bears an awful lot via trade last season. He also cost them a lot in terms of his contract as the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year was signed to a six-year, $141 million deal with $90 million guaranteed. He proved to be well worth it all though.
Mack finished his first season in Chicago with 12.5 sacks and six fumbles. Hie addition proved to be the catalyst they needed to rise to the top of their division. In short, Chicago is going to generate pressure off the edge whether the position is added to or not.
Still, they go out and pick up Malik Reed with their first of two seventh-round picks. He comes in simply for depth as Mack missed two games due to injury in 2018 and their starter opposite him, Leonard Floyd, missed four as a rookie and six more in 2017.
Round 7, Pick 238: Chris Brown, OG, Charlotte
While adding Max Scharping helps the tackle position, the Bears are still subpar at guard. They wait to address the position until now as they went for other needs, but they hope to find a small-school gem in Chris Brown from Charlotte.
