Round 5 : Trysten Hill, DT, Central Florida – 6-2.75, 308 pounds

  • 20 solo tackles (3.2 percent), 10.5 tackles for loss (9.9 percent), 3 sacks (10.3 percent) in 2018.

40-Yard Dash: 5.04s
Broad Jump: 115″
Vertical Jump: 35″
3-cone: 7.7s

Trysten Hill’s solo tackle percentage isn’t where you want it to be, but everything else is pretty solid and his tape is what stands out with him. Hill plays the one, but is capable of getting into the backfield not unlike Larry Ogunjobi.

Hill possesses an explosive first step and has shown the ability to split double teams, cross the face of interior linemen and find his way into the backfield. He’s not afraid of the responsibility that comes with a nose, is willing to clog the middle and keeps opponents honest.

As a run defender, Hill flashes the ability to take on two blockers and hold his ground. He needs to be more consistent as he occasionally gets driven off the ball, but when he’s right, he stones two opponents and bubbles run plays, allowing his teammates to make plays at or behind the line of scrimmage.

Hill is athletic, really shines in terms of being able to change direction on the move and one of his best assets may be his age. There does appear to be a good amount of upside there and as a role player initially as a backup nose that can rush the passer, he could grow into more than that with time.

The Browns need to be focused on giving Larry Ogunjobi more plays off this year to keep him fresh and operating at a high level. Hill needs to improve as a run defender, but his ability to add to the pass rush could be a big positive for the Browns who should be doing a ton of it.
