Continuing our look at what the Detroit Lions could do in the 2019 NFL Draft with the second seven-round mock draft in the series.

The 2019 NFL Draft is now just a matter of weeks away but what the Detroit Lions do during the three days of the event is up for guesses and speculation. The Lions have done a good job so far this offseason of filling many of their glaring holes, leaving their options open to draft or not draft certain positions based on how the board falls without having to worry about big needs that are going unaddressed or to reach for picks simply because of a need.

As a reminder, the mock drafts in this series are not meant to be a prediction of what the Lions will do, nor is it necessarily what I think the Lions should do. This is just a look at what they could do.

To play out as realistic of a scenario as possible this mock draft was created using the Fanspeak mock draft simulator set to run using prospect rankings from Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller. Picks for 31 of the 32 teams were automated in the simulator while I made each Lions selection based on whatever prospects were available at that time.

Using a different big board and changing up the position of the player drafted for the Lions in the first round ensures a fresh scenario is played out in each mock in this series. It was Houston defensive lineman Ed Oliver at the top of the draft last time around; who will it be this time?

Mock drafts are meant to be just for fun so let’s have some fun together. On to the picks.
