Game of Thrones NFL mock draft: Top prospects in Westeros and beyond
Game of Thrones season 8, the final season of the series, is set to premiere on April 14, so it’s time to look into the best NFL Draft prospects in the show.
Game of Thrones and the NFL Draft — it just so happens that these two hugely important cultural events will, more or less, coincide with one another this year. On Sunday, April 14, season 8 of the hit HBO fantasy drama will premiere, kicking off the final six-episode run of the series. Meanwhile, just under two weeks after that, the 2019 NFL Draft will take place on Nashville, with Round 1 getting underway on Thursday, April 25.
With these two huge moments going hand-in-hand with one another, it seems like the perfect time for the world of Game of Thrones and the NFL Draft to collide with one another. That’s right, we’re going to be looking at the characters from the series who, in a world where they could be drafted into the NFL, would be the most highly coveted prospects.
Before we get into this, it’s worth noting that some of the most acclaimed and famous characters from Game of Thrones don’t exactly fit the bill of an NFL Draft prospect. Characters such as Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Sansa Stark, Cersei Lannister and many others simply don’t have much place on a football field. Having said that, they might be better suited for a coaching role, if you really want to find them a place.
What we’ll be looking at is the characters from the show that have the traits to play certain positions and succeed in that regards. We could go all day with this if we wanted to, but we’re only going to look at the top 10 picks out of Westeros and beyond in this fantasy-driven NFL mock draft.
With that in mind, let’s get to the No. 1 overall selection, a no-brainer in my book.
