Game of Thrones NFL mock draft: Top prospects in Westeros and beyond
7. Brienne of Tarth, TE, Tarth
Brienne of Tarth is a real sleeper prospect out of Game of Thrones that should really be getting more attention. Ask anyone (or look back at many character’s first interaction with her) and you’ll see quickly that she has great size that could make her a versatile weapon. In fact, she should slot seamlessly into a role as a tight end with her ability to not only do the dirty work, but also because she’s more athletic than given credit for.
For her size, Brienne has plenty of quickness to go about. She could be a matchup nightmare coming from an in-line tight end spot and getting into the middle of the field, a little too fleet of foot for linebackers to keep up, but too big for defensive backs to physically match up. On top of that, she can take on all comers if asked to help push the defensive front with her blocking.
8. Arya Stark, Nickel, Winterfell
The first thing that people are going to notice in regards to Arya Stark is the size concerns, and they are warranted. She’s not an inch over 5-0 flat at this point — at least without having her at the NFL Combine to measure — and that could ultimately hurt her if she’s matched up with larger receivers (or really any receivers). While that may be so, she has the tools and traits to be a handy defender in the slot.
Because of her training with Syrio Forel and then with The Faceless Men, Arya has tremendous footwork that has clearly been worked on time and again to master the craft. Shifty slot receivers and tight ends aren’t going to be able to separate from her easily over the middle of the field. Moreover, with a mean streak and a vengeful nature, Stark isn’t going to give up on any play and is going to be giving 100 percent, no question.
