1. New York Giants

In all likelihood, New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman isn’t going to trade up. And if he does, his tendencies point towards taking a linebacker or defensive lineman early. Still, if there’s a team that needs to trade up in the 2019 NFL Draft, it’s the Giants.

Last season, with Sam Darnold sitting in their laps, the Giants opted to pass him up for Saquon Barkley. The reasoning was simple: Barkley was a generational talent. He lived up to expectations becoming Offensive Rookie of the Year while finishing second in the NFL in rushing yards.

Nevertheless, here we are, a year later and the Giants are without a legitimate contingency plan for Eli Manning.  Second-year pro Kyle Lauletta is on the roster. However, with the Giants’ unwillingness to give him playing time last season doesn’t bode well for him.

Of course, the Giants can opt to trade one of their two first-round picks for Josh Rosen. Still, with the New York Jets sitting at No. 3, it shouldn’t take much to swap spots. Trading up to the third pick secures the Giants ability to nab Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

Manning has just a year left on his contract and he’s 38 years old. Even if the Giants won a bunch of games and made the playoffs, they’ll still be playing with fire. Taking a quarterback is not to push Manning out the door, but they a valuable option for their future. Haskins can sit for a year and two before taking over for the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
