Round 3, Pick 84: Dawson Knox, TE, Ole Miss

The Seahawks thought that they had the answer at tight end with Wil Dissly. However, he faced a devastating injury just three weeks into the season and may not return to full strength. With Ed Dickson and Nick Vannett still on the roster, Seattle is in need of an upgrade at the tight end position.

Dawson Knox from Ole Miss is a riser late in the draft process, and here in the third round may be a bit too late to get him, but in this simulation he was still on the board. Ever since the combine, Knox has heard his name gain chatter and gather steam in a deep tight end class.

At the combine, Knox measured in at 6-4 and 249 pounds, and hit 34.5 inches on his vertical jump and hit 16 reps on the bench press. He did not run the 40-yard dash in Indianapolis, but at his pro day, Knox ran a blazing 4.51-second 40-yard dash with explosive 10- and 20-yard splits, ran a sub-seven-second 3-cone drill, and jumped over 10 feet on his broad jump.

With the tight end being Wilson’s fall back guy in most seasons, it is important for the Seahawks to find him a reliable safety net heading into 2019. Knox would give Seattle and explosive and sure-handed target weapon for their run heavy offense.
