Pro: Keep Away From New York Giants

The Washington Redskins aren’t the only team looking for a franchise quarterback in this draft. In fact, they aren’t even the only team in their own division that should be searching for the answer at that position. The New York Giants are actually in a worse spot at the position than the Redskins. They have an over-the-hill Eli Manning taking up a lot of money. There’s also no decent backup plan behind him.

With that in mind, Dwayne Haskins is definitely on their radar as well. It would be absolutely crushing for Redskins fans if he went to New York. Imagine a few years down the road: The Redskins are still struggling at the position while the Giants are back in the hunt yearly, as their franchise quarterback, Haskins, is leading the charge.

All anyone would be able to think about is the fact that the Redskins could’ve prevented it. They could’ve traded up and taken the quarterback before the Giants even had a chance. That success could’ve been theirs.

Instead, they stuck with their current situation and struggled. However, the Case Keenum and Colt McCoy duo was too competent. Not competent enough to put them in the playoff hunt, but competent enough to win them some games. Enough games that they are never in the top five (or even top 10) in drafts without trading.

This keeps them away from the top quarterbacks in each class. If you’re going to pull the trigger on a trade up in the draft, do it now. Haskins has the ability that he’s worth the risk. Don’t let another one slip through your fingers, especially not to a divisional rival.
