Round 4: Jalen Hurd, WR, Baylor

Jalen Hurd is taken here as the 103rd overall selection in the fourth round. Hurd is another familiar face for Kingsbury from Big 12 opponent Baylor. Hurd is a big receiver with big play potential.

Hurd began his collegiate career at Tennessee. He played three seasons before transferring to Baylor for his senior season. He switched positions with the transfer, moving from running back to wide receiver. While in college, he ran the ball 637 times for 2,844 yards with 23 touchdowns. He caught 136 passes for 1,438 yards with 10 touchdowns. His physical presence is very impressive.

He stood 6-5, weighing 226 pounds at the NFL Combine. He bench pressed 225 pounds 23 times. At his pro day, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.66 seconds, according to Kurtis Quillin of kcentv.com.

Zierlein writes the following about Hurd at NFL.com:

"Hurd was used as big slot but he might need to transition into a role outside to take advantage of his potential to stretch the field as a downfield ball-winner. … While Hurd will be an NFL receiver, he offers a unique option of becoming a short-yardage banger near the goal line. His best days are in front of him."

The Ageless One, Larry Fitzgerald, is in the twilight of his career. Hurd is a nice candidate to fill the role left by the future NFL Hall of Famer.
