Arizona Cardinals: 7-Round 2019 mock draft two weeks out
By Larry Brake
Round 7, Pick 1: Tre Watson, LB, Maryland
In the final round, Arizona takes two defensive players and two offensive players. Defensively, the Cardinals are trying to make the transition with the linebacker and defensive end positions. They take one of each as they change their scheme from 4-3 to 3-4.
Tre Watson goes first at No. 207. He transferred to Maryland after playing three seasons at Illinois. He stands 6-2, weighing 236 pounds. He could become an interior linebacker.
Round 7, Pick 2: Ben Banogu, DE, TCU
Ben Banogu is the next selection at number 248. He played collegiately at Texas Christian after playing at Louisiana-Monroe in 2015. At TCU, he made 112 total tackles with 17 sacks.
The Cardinals take a tight end and a quarterback with their final selections. It is possible that these last two selections might be traded away, at some point during the draft. Anyways, here they are.
Round 7, Pick 3: Dax Raymond, TE, Utah State
Dax Raymond is taken at the 249th spot. At Utah State, he caught 72 passes for 873 yards with three touchdowns. He could find playing time on special teams.
Round 7, Pick 4: Jake Browning, QB, Washington
Jake Browning is the last pick by Arizona. Expect Browning to battle with Charles Kanoff for the third team, practice squad quarterback position. Browning could find a niche as a clipboard journeyman for several years.
Arizona helps themselves in their rebuilding process in this mock draft. All games are won in the trenches from both sides of the ball. It all starts with taking a lineman with the first pick.
