The linebacking corps of the Cincinnati Bengals will look extremely different in 2019. That’s because a pair of long-time members of the club are now either elsewhere or haven’t been re-signed by the organization.

Controversial performer Vontaze Burfict was cut loose by Cincinnati this offseason and wound up finding a home with the Silver and Black in Oakland (and one-time Bengals’ defensive coordinator Paul Guenther).

On the other hand, usually-productive Vincent Rey is currently searching for another team as the franchise has not re-signed the versatile nine-year veteran. A year ago, he played in all 16 games but made just two starts, totaling share of stops on special teams (5) compared to on defense (14).

This past season, newcomer Preston Brown was limited to only seven games and 42 tackles. Youngsters Nick Vigil (84) and Jordan Evans (59) combined for 143 stops but made very few impact plays. The former finished with only five tackles for losses while Evans managed only 1.5 sacks.

A second-round pick of the New England Patriots back in 2013, outside linebacker Jamie Collins spent three-plus seasons in Foxborough before being dealt to the Cleveland Browns in 2016. Limited to only six contests in 2017, he was a 16-game starter this past year and led the club with 104 stops. There were also four sacks, 13 tackles for losses, four passes defensed and a pair of takeaways. He would be a solid pickup for a unit screaming for playmakers.
