Green Bay Packers: 5 Late-round sleepers in 2019 NFL Draft
By Joe Kipp
OT Olisaemeka Udoh, Elon
Elon’s Olisaemeka Udoh is a massive human with the potential to be an NFL backup at right tackle. Standing at 6-5 and 323 pounds, Udoh has the ideal frame for a starting-caliber NFL tackle. Coupled with arms that measure over 35 inches, Udoh will have teams salivating over his potential based on his size alone.
"“Mammoth right tackle prospect with intriguing developmental traits as both a run blocker and in pass protection. Udoh lacks the quickness for move-blocking duties but has power to generate push against opponents in front of him. … Worthy of taking a shot on as a Day 3 draft-and-develop prospect.” – NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein"
The Packers already had a pre-draft visit with Udoh, a sign they may have interest in him. Offensive tackle may be one of the biggest holes on the roster currently, especially when considering starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga’s contract is set to expire next offseason – not to mention his injury history.
Additionally, former second-rounder Jason Spriggs is also set to be an unrestricted free agent next year, which means the Packers need to start planning for possible replacements. Spriggs is unlikely to be re-signed. With players ahead of him on the depth chart, Udoh is the perfect example of a player who would benefit from a redshirt year in the NFL, and could be a valuable asset if the Packers elect to let Bulaga walk away next year.
