The biggest storyline for the Chiefs on the field in 2018 was the play of Patrick Mahomes. Their second-year quarterback was phenomenal and captivated viewers everywhere as he carved defenses week after week en route to the MVP award.

Off the field, their biggest storyline became running back Kareem Hunt. A video surfaced in late November that showed Hunt in an altercation inside of a Cleveland hotel. In this video, he was seen pushing and kicking the woman. Kansas City reacted by releasing him and he’s now with the Cleveland Browns.

He was replaced by Damien Williams, who finished the season strong and even had a 129-yard game against the Indianapolis Colts in the playoffs. However, Williams doesn’t have a history of being a No. 1 back which could lead to the Chiefs looking elsewhere for help. One possibility could be Josh Jacobs of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Jacobs came on late in his career as he had just 85 carries as a freshman and 46 as a sophomore before going for 640 yards on 120 carries in his junior campaign. He did the majority of his damage later in the season and finished with 11 touchdowns.

The Alabama product is the No. 1 running back on many draft boards and looks the part of a franchise back. His 40-yard dash time may have hurt his stock some, but he could still be a feature back that will help the Chiefs forget about losing Hunt.
