The Atlanta Falcons aren’t far removed from making the Super Bowl, but what moves in the 2019 NFL Draft can get them back into the playoffs?

It was just over two calendar years ago that the Atlanta Falcons seemed to be running away with their first-ever Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LI. Of course, Falcons fans and NFL fans alike know how that played out — with Dan Quinn’s team blowing a 28-3 lead in the third quarter and ultimately losing to the Patriots on the big stage of the Super Bowl.

Following that loss, the Falcons saw offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan depart for the 49ers head coaching position and replaced him with Steve Sarkisian. That move caused a bit of a dropoff in 2017, but Atlanta still made it to the playoffs with a 10-6 record and won their Wild Card Round matchup over the Rams. This past season, however, the Sarkisian experiment failed more miserably as the team, which was ravaged with injuries, went just 7-9.

Sarkisian is now out for the Falcons, though, and the team is also looking on-track to be at full health in 2019. Those two things can’t be understated given the level of talent on this roster, meaning that they could be in line to make the playoffs right off the bat with that.

As we saw with the injuries last season, however, the Falcons need to bolster their depth on this roster so that such things don’t prevent them from reaching their goal of making the postseason. More than that, there are certainly areas where Atlanta can add talent that would upgrade spots on their roster. The 2019 NFL Draft can help with that.

Starting with the 14th overall pick, the Atlanta Falcons have nine selections in the 2019 NFL Draft. In this seven-round mock draft, the goal is to use those selections to get them back to the playoffs.
