The 2019 NFL Draft strategy of the Jacksonville Jaguars in this seven-round mock draft might be surprising after their free agent signings.

Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell has been busy during free agency by signing several available players at key positions. Nick Foles becomes the face of the franchise at quarterback. Now, the question is who will the Jaguars select in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft (and beyond)?

Seems like the Jaguars should take an offensive lineman to protect Foles. Perhaps, they pick a tight end at No. 7. Wouldn’t that make some heads spin — after all, nobody takes a tight end that high, ever, right?

Should the Jaguars grab an edge pass rusher? Is Dante Fowler’s replacement there to be taken? Well, they just might trade down in order to accumulate extra picks. Currently, they have seven selections in the upcoming NFL Draft.

As of now, Jacksonville owns four of the first 98 overall picks. Their remaining draft spots are in the fourth, sixth and seventh round. Expect this rookie draft class pool to cost around $8,718,975, according to OverTheCap.com.

The last time that the Jaguars had the seventh pick, they took Byron Leftwich in 2003. Leftwich was a good quarterback for a while. Will Caldwell and Jacksonville take a quarterback to groom behind Foles?

Here’s a look at their first round selection. Don’t be shocked or amused. Remember, this is a mid-April mock draft for the Jaguars.
