Round 4, Pick 120: Nate Davis, IOL, Charlotte

The Vikings continue re-tooling their offensive line by selecting Charlotte’s Nate Davis, who impressed against higher-level competition. Davis (6-3, 316 pounds) projects as a safe pick at guard for teams looking for a road grader in the running game. He has experience at both tackle and guard in college.

The one red flag with Davis is his suspension of four games as a senior in 2018 for ‘undisclosed violations’ by the NCAA.

"“Davis carries good power and outstanding foot quickness on a stout frame and has proven to be consistent and effective in a variety of blocking schemes. … He has some flaws, but there doesn’t appear to be glaring holes to overcome his areas of strength and become a starting guard early in his career.” – NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein"

Minnesota had to hit on their first three picks in this mock draft, and with the 120th pick, Davis makes another safe bet to be a solid contributor in the years to come. He may not be a ‘plug and play’ starter early-on, but some fine-tuning and coaching should enable him to jump into the starting lineup soon enough. Another potential offensive lineman who could be available in this range for the Vikings is Wisconsin’s Beau Benzschawel.
