The Dallas Cowboys schedule for the 2019 season has been released and, after winning the NFC East, there are some daunting games forthcoming.

Winners of the NFC East last season, the Dallas Cowboys went into the playoffs and earned a victory over the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card Round. However, they were no match for the eventual NFC representative in Super Bowl LIII, the Los Angeles Rams, in the Divisional Round. Now it’s all eyes on the 2019 season for Jerry Jones’ club.

On Wednesday night, the 2019 regular season schedule was released for all 32 teams, including the Cowboys. As division winners a year ago, that means that Dallas will face a first-place schedule, something that creates tough matchups in itself. Having said that, the Cowboys do get some luck in playing the AFC East (hello, Dolphins and Bills) and having the Giants and Redskins in the NFC East contingent.

Even still, if Dallas wants to repeat as division winners in 2019, they will have to survive a tough overall schedule, one that particularly heats up at the regular season. In fact, four of their five toughest games fall in the final six weeks of the season. With that, let’s look at the five toughest games on the Cowboys 2019 schedule, working from “easiest” to most difficult.

Week 15 vs. Los Angeles Rams

Considering that the Rams ousted the Cowboys in the playoffs last season in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score would have you believe, seeing this game as the fifth-toughest on Dallas’ schedule might surprise some fans. However, that’s largely a testament to how difficult the Cowboys schedule indeed gets. And it’s also because the Rams might be slightly lesser than they were a year ago.

Despite still having Sean McVay on the sidelines and stars like Aaron Donald, Jared Goff and Todd Gurley, the Rams have lost key pieces this offseason in Rodger Saffold, John Sullivan and Ndamukong Suh. Not having those guys will affect this Los Angeles team in 2019. Even still, they will be a tough matchup on both sides of the ball for Dallas and this late-season matchup could have heavy postseason implications.
