3. Oakland Raiders

Is there a team more loaded with picks than the Oakland (soon to be Las Vegas) Raiders? The simple answer is no — at least not in the first two rounds. With that said, there’s no reason for the Raiders to sit on all three of their first-round picks.

The Raiders currently sit in a spot with the No. 4 pick where teams needing a quarterback would like to be. So why not allow the teams who are desperate for a quarterback mortgage their franchise to you? It’s not like the Raiders are afraid of making blockbuster trades. Plus, it at least doesn’t make sense for Oakland themselves to be interested in a quarterback…at least for this year.

For starters, there’s not a quarterback in this draft worth taking early. And with the enormous expectations for the 2020 quarterback class, the Raiders could and should trade down. This will allow them to stockpile more picks and give them a shot at Justin Herbert, Jake Fromm or Tua Tagovailoa.

Moreover, if they select three players in the first round, all of their contracts will come up in the same year. That doesn’t exactly put them in the best financial situation. Having that many first-round picks is a gift and curse.

However, having a plethora of picks on Day 2 and in the first round in 2020 is a gift. It allows the Raiders to build depth and add to their special teams. Plus, they have two other first-round picks to work with. And they’ll have the capital to trade up next year to improve their chances with landing their franchise quarterback.
