EDGE. Auburn Tigers. Dee Ford. 16. player. 123.

Original Pick: Zack Martin, OG, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Dallas Cowboys face a peculiar situation in this re-draft, as their first two selections in the 2014 NFL Draft have already been selected ahead of their first pick.

Offensive guard Zack Martin goes to the Cleveland Browns at No. 8, while edge defender Demarcu Lawrence lands with the Oakland Raiders at No. 5. With the No. 16 overall pick in the re-draft, the Cowboys resort to Dee Ford, originally the No 23 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ford was a late bloomer for the Chiefs, as he only recorded a total of 5.5 sacks over the first two years of his career, but has put it together as of late. Last season, Ford made his first Pro Bowl of his career after tallying 13 sacks, 29 quarterback hits and 13 tackles for loss off of the edge of the Kansas City defense.

After a solid 2018 season, the Chiefs executed a tag-and-trade of Ford to the San Francisco 49ers who then gave him a massive extension.

Now in the Bay Area, Ford has $19.75 million in his pocket as the signing bonus on his new deal. Of the $85.5 million due over the next five seasons, this includes $33.35 million in guaranteed money. Here, the Cowboys put the star on his helmet with the No. 16 overall pick to cope with Lawrence going far before his original draft spot.
