The 2019 NFL Draft is just days away at this point, so we take one final look at the Chicago Bears’ possible haul in this seven-round mock draft.

The 2019 NFL Draft is just about upon us. The lives of hundreds of football prospects and the hopes of countless teams are about to change. It’s nice to see that the Chicago Bears aren’t among the teams that have countless holes to fill. They are looking to add depth and strengthen an already good roster.

General manager Ryan Pace did a fantastic job of revamping the team last offseason. He added plenty of weapons for quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and made sure to keep key players through free agency. Then he went to the draft and put the finishing touches on a team that ended up finishing 12-4 and NFC North champions. They fell a Cody Parkey missed field goal away from advancing in the playoffs.

In last year’s draft, Pace picked up prospects who made an impact. He drafted linebacker Roquan Smith, wide receiver Anthony Miller, offensive lineman James Daniels and defensive lineman Bilal Nichols, all of whom played key roles. He also drafted linebackers Joel Iyiegbuniwe and Kylie Fitts, and wide receiver Javon Wims, all of whom contributed a bit last season but are expected to see more time in 2019.

In the 2019 draft, Pace just needs to add help and keep the starters fresh. The only slot that is a real question mark is at kicker. Pace has a small village vying to replace Parkey and many expect him to add another from the draft. Even the running back spot, now minus Jordan Howard, is pretty solid. Another running back helps the rotation.

The one thing I expect to see with Pace is a trade. He’s made countless draft-day trades in his previous four drafts and I expect more this year. He could use some of his draft picks (he has about 10) to move up. However, seeing that he doesn’t have glaring holes to fill, he may move down in one of the rounds and secure more picks for additional depth.

Most people believe if the Chicago Bears make a trade it would be in the third round. Will Pace want to sit pat for two rounds while other teams make noise? Also, he has a history of trading the third round pick. He’s only had two picks in that round and they haven’t exactly been gangbusters (Hroniss Grasu and Jonathan Bullard). This could be another time he trades the third round pick.

Even in a draft in which the Chicago Bears have only five picks (and none until the third round), this could still be a fun and adventurous draft. All of Pace’s drafts have been, and I don’t expect this one to be much different.
