The 2019 NFL Draft is now less than one week away and the New York Jets look to rebuild their franchise with this seven-round mock draft

Last season, the New York Jets made a big trade ahead of the NFL Draft when they jumped from No. 6 to No. 3 overall. That’s not unheard of, but they did so even before knowing what would happen with the first two picks in the draft.

It all worked out as the Cleveland Browns took Baker Mayfield first and Saquon Barkley went second to the New York Giants, which left USC’s Sam Darnold there for the taking. New York had no qualms about this and added the young quarterback who looks to be the face of the franchise going forward.

An up and down rookie season ensued but now Darnold is going to have to deal with his first coaching change. The Jets fired Todd Bowles in the offseason and replaced him with Adam Gase — a questionable move considering how sour things got for Gase in Miami.

The key to Gase’s success will be getting Darnold to reach his potential. The good news in that regard is Gase and the Jets have filled two holes that will really help Darnold. One was their addition of Jamison Crowder, which gives them a legitimate slot receiver — which is often a quarterback’s best friend.

Their other move was the big one, which was signing former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell in free agency. Bell is great in the run and pass game and will take a lot of pressure off Darnold.

New York still needs to do more to keep pace in the AFC East and here we try and help in that regard by making selections for them in this seven-round 2019 NFL Mock Draft.
