Round 6, Pick 196: Kendall Joseph, LB, Clemson

With C.J. Mosley now in town to play one of the two inside linebacker spots for New York, their defense should be much improved. He will be joined in the middle of their 3-4 defense by Avery Williamson, who signed last season and racked up 120 tackles and three sacks.

Those two give the Jets a great starting combination which is why there have been rumors of Darron Lee being traded during the draft. If Lee is moved, the Jets will add depth and Kendall Joseph makes sense.

A leader of the Clemson defense, Joseph lacks the desired size to be a middle linebacker in a three-man linebacker corps but could find success in a 3-4. He recorded 281 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and two interceptions for the Tigers during his final three seasons. He was also a Co-Defensive Player of the Game against Alabama the year they lost the NCAA Championship, which proves he does his best work when the lights are brightest.

Round 7, Pick 217: Demarcus Christmas, DT, Florida State

With their final pick in this 2019 NFL Mock Draft, the Jets pick up Demarcus Christmas out of Florida State. The 6-3, 294-pound Christmas spent five seasons with the Seminoles after redshirting as a freshman in 2014.

In that span, he recorded 106 tackles and 3.5 sacks. He’s a space eater who will be charged with stuffing the run but won’t offer much in terms of a pass rush. That doesn’t mean he can’t carve out a nice role for himself in the pros.
